I heart destination weddings

Last month I had the pleasure of photographing Jess & Luke’s wedding at Mission Beach in Northern Queensland.

I love this wedding. It was so fresh and natural. Jess works as a makeup artist so she did all the girls makeup on the day and they had their hair done locally.

Jess’s Dress was designed by Paul Hunt and it was absolutely perfect for her figure, the location and her personality being a girl who grew up at the beach in Pottsville.

Luke & the boys suits were all from Always Habit including the bridesmaids dresses.

The Elandra Resort is one of the most breathtaking hotels I have ever seen in Australia and made a beautiful backdrop for their pool side ceremony.

Although Mission Beach was hit hard by Cyclone Yasi this year, it is still a venue I would recommend anyone to get married at and the 2 hour drive from Cairns is a great way to see Northern Queensland.

I have photographed so many amazing weddings this year but this one is definitely at the top of my list. I love receiving all your comments so please feel free to send me a message.

My Wedding Inspiration

I have to apologies for the late post of Courtney and Craig’s Wedding. I have just arrived home from Fiji where I photographed Nerrisa & Warrens Wedding and ran out of time to post this beautiful wedding which is Courtney’s, the eldest of the the 3 McFarlane sisters I have been posting about.

Courtney and Craig’s wedding was my first love. Love for weddings that is, this wedding was photographed in my early days of joining the wedding industry and inspired me in so many ways for my own wedding.

Courtney’s Dress was designed by MXM Couture (who designed my wedding dress) & every second bridesmaid wore a different coloured dress which looked stunning.

All the girls hair and makeup was by Sarah Laidlaw who did all the McFarlane girls weddings and hair accessories were by MXM Couture.

Their ceremony was held at Sirromet Winery. I had seen his venue once before but after their wedding I confirmed the venue for my own wedding.

I am starting to sound like a bit of a wedding stalker now using many of Courtney suppliers but the day just flowed so perfectly and looked so beautiful I couldn’t help myself.

Weddings are already complicated enough and I loved the fact that you could get married and have the reception venue all in the one place. Not only that, Sirromet Winery’s  location in Mount Cotton is breathtaking, and the staff go above and beyond for their clients which is a necessity on a wedding day but not too common.

The reception was filled with metre high vines and roses. This was where I fell in love with Julie Vine by far the best florist in Queensland. I loved how Courtney broke all the rules by choosing bouquets that were a completely different colour scheme to the rest of the wedding because it still tied into her theme beautifully and just brightened up the photos.

I have to say a Big Thank You to Courtney, Gillian & Adrienne for inviting me into their lives and asking me to photograph their weddings.

You have such an amazing family & friends and I really enjoyed every moment of working with you all.

and the bride wore pink.

Yesterday I showed you snippets of Adrienne’s colorful Wedding, and today I have her sister Gillian’s wedding who got married 6 months apart form each other.

Gillian, a hairdresser by trade, knows all the best in the business when it comes to hair & makeup and spared no expense flying Sarah Laidlaw up from Sydney to do the hair and Jo Twidale to do the makeup.

Gillian looked absolutely fantastic which Im sure had some great tips from her now husband who works as a personal trainer.

I dont know who designed the mens suits but the boys looked fantastic. One tip I always have for the grooms is if you cant go out and buy an awesome suit for all your groomsmen and have to hire or by a cheaper suit from Myer than you must spend the extra dollars on a well cut white business shirt. It makes all the difference.

Gillian chose to wear a soft pink Paul Hunt wedding dress and was lucky enough to have Paul come to her house and prepare the dress for her on the day.

The girls were dressed in  mushroom pink Lisa Brown dresses which looked stunning and best of all can suit any girl with any figure.

Again Gillian had nothing but the best with her Jimmy Choo shoes and her earings and hair clip by Chelsea de Luca.

Gillian & Davids reception at MODA Portside was decorated in Diamonds and Pearls by Julie Vine and they added the fun into the reception by having a “Live photoboth” by the one and only MILQUE Photography

3 Sisters, 3 Weddings, Posted over 3 days

I was lucky enough to be asked to photograph the 3 McFarlane Sisters Weddings over this year & last year.

These girls really know how to throw a beautiful wedding and are the best brides any wedding photographer could ever ask for. All as beautiful on the inside as they are on the outside and all an absolute pleasure before during and after their wedding.

Each Brisbane based wedding was absolutely stunning from Sirromet Winery to MODA Portside to GOMA at South bank.

I have chosen a few favorite photos from each wedding and will be posting each sisters wedding over the next 3 days.

Below is the most recent wedding of the 3, Adrienne & Phil.

Adrienne’s dress was made by Paul Hunt. I have photographed so many weddings with Pauls Dress’s lately and still cant get over how diverse his skills are with each dress I see. His creations are of the highest quality and Im sure Paul can make anything you can dream of.

This season was all about nude coloured bridesmaid dresses, or at least I thought until saw Adrienne’s  coral Zimmerman  bridesmaids and colourful flowers at their GOMA reception by Julie Vine. It was so refreshing, cheerful and worked perfectly for their spring wedding.

Adrienne’s stunning earings were by Chelsea de Luca & you cant forget shoes by the one and only Jimmy Choo.  So many brides say to me “who cares about the shoes, no one can see them” but when you see a brides excitement who has gone that extra mile to get her dream shoes you would put that accessory at the top of your wedding to do list.

The girls hair & makeup was created by 2 of my favorite artists Jo Twidale & Sarah Laidlaw and a hair wasn’t out of place all evening.
