Lighting Wedding Photography Tips

As a photographer natural  LIGHT is most important, and I will do almost anything to avoid on camera flash. I feel the flash looses that romantic feel to the photographs and almost has a staged feeling to them.

Not only does natural light make a  room look good but everyones skin looks flattering and flawless. As soon as I walk into a room I open up all the curtains and blinds and try to get the most amount of  light in as possible.

When choosing where you want to get ready on your wedding day not only should you keep this in mind but also a room with a lot of space and clean lines, not too much clutter.

I will often us the lounge area or even verandah if its the only way I can get light.

When choosing your ceremony times I recommend going by what time sunset is on your wedding day. Try to avoid photos in the middle of the day as the sun is way to harsh on peoples skin.

For Example if your getting married and Sunset is  6pm than I would recomend having your ceremony 2.5 hours before

eg

3:30pm  Ceremony

4pm       Congratulations, Group photos, Family photos

4:30       Photos on location

6pm      Sunset

Hayley Opel & Jed Adcock’s Wedding (Part 1)

Hayley & Jed Adcocks Wedding was breathtaking. There was a feeling of excitement from the moment I walked into Hayleys home and she couldnt wait to start putting on her Darb Couture wedding dress, Jimmy Choos & earings by Chelsea De Luca.

I have now photographed Hayley and her bridesmaids a few times at different Weddings and it is always an absolute joy photographing these girls, as they know how to have a FUN wedding day and secretly I think they love playing dress ups.

You can never go wrong with pale bink briedsmaids with a blonde bride and the Zimmerman Dresses hung off the girls beautifully.

Hayley and her bridesmaids hair & makeup were by Jo Twidale and I think anyone can agree with me that the girls all looked Stunning.

Hayleys  flowers were by a friend of hers Daniela from Pink & Purple Petals. I have worked with Daniela on a number of Weddings now. Her attention to detail is incredible and Ive heard nothing but raving reviews from all her brides about her work and how lovely Daniela is.

Hayely married Brisbane Lions Player Jed Adcock, and I will Post Part 2 of their wedding with the boys getting ready very soon.
