Wedding Stylist to the Rescue!

We all know how busy we can get in our everyday lives and for some of us who are lacking in the organisation department, imagine how hard it will be to also organise a wedding on top of your day to day calendar!

Did you know that the average bride spends 120 – 150 hours planning her wedding?  If your groom is a helpful kinda guy, he might pitch in but let’s be real – our men prefer to leave it up to the ladies to figure it out.  We honestly think some of the ladies would prefer it that way too.

For some Australians, hiring a wedding planner/stylist may seem a little ridiculous and unnecessary, but there is just so much that goes into the planning of a wedding.

A wedding planner/stylist can help bring your dream day to life, in line with any budget you may have.  They are the ones who will ask all the right questions; and being in the industry, they know how much things cost and where to get the best deals.  They’ve got the knowledge and connections and if anything goes wrong in the lead up to your big day,  your wedding planner/stylist is the person who can deal with it for you.  Did you know that many wedding planners/stylists can actually help their clients save enough money on their wedding day to cover the cost of hiring them?  How awesome is that?!

Everything we’ve said sounds great doesn’t it?  But, what’s the number #1 reason to look into hiring a wedding planner/stylist?  STRESS REDUCTION!  Weddings are beautiful, however; they can be very stressful for couples especially if things are going wrong at the last minute.  In most cases, the wedding day is a whirlwind.  It can go so quickly, so its best to be able to enjoy every single minute of it without the stress.  Believe us, you will thank your wedding planner/stylist as a result.  Just make sure you find someone who will work with you to create your dream wedding.

If you are interested in a vintage style wedding, we recommend Judi from Little Gray Station.  Judi is amazing at what she does!

Here are a few photos from one of the recent shoots we collaborated on.  Gorgeous!

We love, love

love

[luhv] noun, verb, loved, lov·ing.

  1. a profoundly tender, passionate affection for another person.
  2. a feeling of warm personal attachment or deep affection, as for a parent, child, or friend.
  3. sexual passion or desire.
  4. a person toward whom love is felt; beloved person; sweetheart.
  5. (used in direct address as a term of endearment, affection, or the like): Would you like to see a movie, love?

Today, we wanted to share a beautiful shot from one of our favourite MILQUE couple shoots.

Can’t you just feel the love?!

Your Wedding Shoes

When it comes to wedding shoes, the team at MILQUE have seen it all.

White, silver, beige, cream, ivory, pink, blue, red, satin, sequined, sparkly beach flats, open toed, closed in, strappy or sky high (beauty is pain!) Jimmy Choos.  Whatever your preference, your shoes are an important part of your big day.

If you are looking for something old or something borrowed, why not wear your mother’s wedding shoes if she still has them?   Or you could come very prepared like one of our MILQUE brides last year who had 7 (yes 7!) pairs of Christian Louboutins that she changed into throughout the day.

Add a splash of colour like Nat Lynn, head photographer at MILQUE who wore a pair of gorgeous pink glitter peep toes with cute bow detail [pictured].

Your wedding day is your big chance to wear the shoes you have always dreamed of.  Many of our brides spare no expense, but whatever the cost there are going to be a few common issues you could be met with on your day.

Being uncomfortable in your wedding shoes is one of the last things a bride will want to deal with.  Most time will be spent on your feet but if you follow some of our handy tips, your feet will thank you.

  1. If you are having a garden wedding, invest in some plastic heel caps to prevent your shoes from sinking into the ground and to avoid your shoes from getting ruined.
  2. Most brides like to have everything new and fresh for their wedding day, but for shoes, this is a big mistake.  In an attempt to avoid discomfort, we recommend that you break in your shoes by wearing them a few times i.e. around the house, to the shopping centre or during your wedding waltz dance lessons.  They say it takes approximately 3 wears for your feet to become comfortable in a shoe.
  3. Stretching your shoes at your local shoe repairer is also a great idea.
  4. Ask one of your bridesmaids to keep some heel gels handy just in case the balls of your feet start to feel like they are on fire.  We’ve been there – its not pleasant!
  5. If you don’t want to wear your wedding shoes all day, purchase a pair of pretty little flats for the reception.  This will ensure you keep dancing all night.

Our tips for Rain, Hail or Shine

Its the morning of your big day and the weather is gorgeous; not a cloud in sight…

You’ve religiously checked the forecast leading up to this moment, but then…  dum dum duuuuuumm….  Clouds appear, the sun is blocked out and its suddenly overcast.  You start cursing your iPhone weather app, the TV weather girl and the Bureau of Meteorology.

Bad or unexpected weather can creep up on us at the most inconvenient moments and your wedding day is no exception.  Don’t let it spoil your plans!

At MILQUE, we always tell our clients to be prepared for anything on their big day.

Here are some of our tips rain, hail or shine…

  • If you are buying parasails, make sure that they are water proof.
  • Always have back up locations organised.  Wet weather plans are a must!
  • Warn your bridesmaids that they could be on EXTRA duties that day i.e. picking up the dress.
  • If you planned to have your hair down but it looks like its going to rain, wear your hair up.  Nat Lynn, head of the MILQUE team had to personally do this one as she didn’t want to have FRIZZY HAIR on her big day!
  • If your wedding shoes are a different colour and are made out of material i.e. RED satin – don’t wear them in the rain because they will stain your white dress.
  • If you know beforehand that the forecast is now going to be cloudy, you can hire umbrellas especially for your wedding day but make sure they are matching as they look terrible when they don’t!
